At 21 years old Agnes Carlsson, better known simply as Agnes, sure has a lot to sing about. Growing up in the small town of Vänersborg in Sweden, music was always an integral part of her life. Her career took off at the tender age of 17, when she was crowned the youngest ever & Sweden’s first female Pop Idol winner; a result which triggered a string of chart successes including six top 10 singles and three hit albums that have since reached gold, platinum and double platinum status.
As she grew, her style evolved, until she was introduced to songwriter and producer Anders Hansson in 2008. The creative sparks began to fly as Hansson’s dance flavoured production allowed Agnes to express her drive, energy and attitude, and of course, let loose with her incredible vocals. ‘Release Me’, her first international single, is the result of this studio alchemy and announces the arrival of a major new talent.
Co-written by Agnes herself, ‘Release Me’ sets itself apart from recent offerings from other Scando-pop artist due to Agnes’ soaring voice and the track’s lavish production including lashings of strings, club-heavy beats and that all-conquering, highly infectious chorus that has hooked listeners Worldwide.
